Barcodes everywhere…

10.November.08 – 18:41

if you’re interested, check out our blog at lemQi. I just posted a comparison of Project Bamby compared to other (commercial) barcode recognition libraries working with image processing. Also, Sebastian posted some stuff about thresholding methods we used.

There will be much more activity over there than here in the next time, although i have some stuff pending on my “ToPublish” list ;)

  3. we’re currently a little bit stuck refactoring/speeding up due to some other projects where Sebastian and me are working on. It may be still a month or so away before we think we can release it to public without a bad feeling. we will definitely write about it. here and on the lemqi blog. sorry for the delay ;)

  4. Hey, I would also be interested in this project very much. Will you release it for free or as open source? I am a hobby programmer and I would be very interested to try this library for one of my personal projects. Could you tell me please, when you are planing to release it?

    Thank you very much.

  5. Hello
Is this project still alive? I was looking on lemqi after seeing some info on forums about it. Would be great to find out some info.

  6. Hello James,
lemQi and all its projects are still active. however, we´ve suspended the projects because we´re both working on our master thesis. nonetheless, we will publish everything in a few weeks to months.
    sorry for the delay ;)

  7. I would absolutely love to get my hands on this! Your software looks amazing. I am writing some software and barcode image recognition would be great… I don’t want to spend $300+ on some commercial software.

  9. Hi there,
for my dissertation I will need the opportunity to scan barcodes from pictures, that are taken from a mobile phone. So I would be very happy, if you could contact me as soon as possible (you can write me an email in german^^), because I think your work is exactly what I’m looking for!
    Thanks and best regards,
    Daniel

  14. Any news on the barcode recongition code publishing?

By Alex on May 18, 2010

  15. Hello Alex,

well, actually no as we had no time yet. we even had to reject a licensee´s offer as i got plenty of work and sebastian´s just finishing his master thesis. but i guess summer may be a good point in time as he will be finished by then and i´ll probably get some spare time. we will inform you if there are any news. promised ;)

  16. Hello, I’m currently working for my master thesis. This project could help me a lot since it involves scanning different barcodes. Please send me an email when you’ll release the code.

  17. Hi Joachim
Did any work take please on the project over summer? It seems this project has got a lot of attention. It would be great to see it in action against the others and also to put it to use.
    thanks

  18. Hi jkersch,

Long time no info on Bamby! Are you going to release it under an open license? If so, why wait? Others can begin improvements right away.

Is there anywhere that we can get the sourcecode? There is at least one Free Software project that could really use an advanced barcode image recognition library.

    Thanks!
